Solid wood doors don’t get dirty as easily as floors, but they still need maintenance. So how do you maintain solid wood doors? Xuzhou wooden door factory will share some maintenance measures for solid wood doors.

Maintenance measures for solid wood door panels:

  1. During seasonal changes, it’s crucial to ensure proper air circulation and moisture replenishment. Especially during seasons with significant humidity fluctuations, in summer, prevent solid wood doors from becoming excessively damp during rainy days by taking precautions against moisture and water damage. In winter, when the air moisture content is low, consider installing a humidifier or keeping potted plants to regulate humidity. Excessive indoor humidity can easily lead to mold spots, peeling of surface materials, and rusting of metal components on solid wood doors, all of which can damage the product’s quality. Large temperature differences in indoor air can also cause changes in moisture content, making solid wood doors highly susceptible to warping and cracking during use, further compromising their durability.

  2. During the entire process of opening and closing solid wood doors, be careful to ensure your hands are dry or free of other liquids to prevent corrosion of the security device. Avoid using excessive force when operating the security device. This will ensure the solid wood door doesn’t malfunction due to excessive stress and is not damaged, while also maintaining a quiet home environment and preventing disruption to the daily lives and rest of other family members.

  3. Extending the lifespan of solid wood doors: Proper maintenance of solid wood doors also requires regular cleaning and dusting during daily life. When cleaning solid wood doors, avoid using hard cloths or sharp materials to remove surface stains. Use a soft cotton cloth to wipe them down; hard cloths can easily scratch the surface.

  4. When cleaning surface stains, if liquid cleaning is necessary, try to use cool water or a mild chemical cleaning solution. Only use a thin layer of liquid to clean. Otherwise, it will corrode the surface wood veneer material, causing the surface wood veneer material to fade or peel off, damaging the product’s unique appearance.

Taboos in Solid Wood Door Maintenance:

  1. Do not place the handle in high or low temperature environments or cold environments. Do not expose the handle to direct sunlight or place it in excessively dry places to prevent the wood from cracking and warping. Also, do not place the handle in humid environments, as wooden doors will mold over time in humid areas, and aluminum alloy doors and their metal components such as hinges, rails, and springs will rust, damaging the normal use of the door.

  2. During transportation, pulling or dragging may damage the mortise and tenon structure or hardware at the joints of the door.

  3. Avoid using doors beyond their load-bearing capacity. Do not slam doors, and avoid excessive opening or closing of door tracks. Do not leave items on the door surface for extended periods, as this can cause deformation, instability, and even collapse, damaging the door. Placing items on top of the door over time can cause it to bulge and close too loosely. Storage shelves should also not be overloaded, and should not exceed the door’s width to prevent door deformation.

  4. Clean the door with drinking water or wipe it with a damp, pure cotton towel.

  5. Do not place hot items above 100°C or extremely cold items on the outer frame of the door.

  6. Immediately place sharp or rough-bottomed objects against the door surface, as this may cause scratches to the door surface.
